Accountancy Profession Call For New Measures to Attract Graduates

Nearly half of the today’s accountants (44%) do not believe enough is being done to attract graduates to the profession or to study accountancy, according to latest research conducted by CareersinAudit.com.

The research “Future of Accountancy” was conducted amongst 477 UK accountants during August 2009. Top solutions to attracting more to the profession included the industry embarking on a campaign to change the perception (14%), offering better training programmes (14%) or making more effort to visit universities (13%). Others believe the profession could be doing more to convey the breadth of benefits (9%).

I agree with you all. They position holders are not coming from accounting background.But we need specialized qualified accountants in order to prosper. Students are no more interested to complete their graduation from Accounting. It is frustrating to see people from other discipline holding the role of accountants.
We need specialized training facilities in order to improve ourselves. In this current economic condition organizations need qualified accountants & they need us.

Yes we; the students are aware of these issues, but they need to be attracted by our effective positioned & qualified seniors practising audit & accounting who can bring about a change both in workplace & academia. We should take some initiatives to pass the thoughts to them...

So far, I see in different......accountant is a profession attracted in logically and valid for public.....But its must be an art when u describing a process into numbers as a report and analysis.....Its attractive but a little bore than others..... :)

nothing can get pass the falcon eyes of a true auditor..which is proven by their qualifications and backed up by precious experience gain through pure resilience..ignoring the temptations of other well paid position..
