Miles Davis: Did You Know...

Did You Know...
Did you know that when Bill Evans joined Miles’ sextet in 1958, he never felt very comfortable and Miles used to bug him? Looking back on the 8 months together, Miles said “Boy, I’ve sure learned a lot from Bill Evans. He plays the piano the way it should be played. He plays all kind of scales; can play 5/4 and all kinds of fantastic things. There’s such a difference between him and Red Garland (who replaced Evans) who I’m also like a lot. Red carries the rhythm, but Bill underplays, and I like that better.”
