Historic York Announces “Spooky York” Walking Tour
YORK, PA – Historic York, Inc., a non-profit organization focused on historic preservation, announces an upcoming special event. The Spooky York Walking Tour will feature a downtown tour filled with local ghost stories, legends, and dark history. The walk will be led by author Scott D. Butcher, who co-wrote the book Spooky York, Pennsylvania and currently serves as president of Historic York’s board of directors. In prior years Butcher has led similar tours for Main Street York, Downtown Inc, York County Heritage Trust, and Crispus Attucks.
Many of the stories featured in Spooky York, Pennsylvania will be featured on the 90-minute walking tour, along with some new haunted tales. The tour will culminate in a stop at The York Emporium, a popular used book and curiosity shop on West Market Street. Here participants will be able to enjoy light refreshments and beverages amid the massive collection of almost 250,000 books. Owner and author Jim Lewin will share stories of ghostly happenings in the building and reveal the results of two paranormal investigations of the property.
