I recently posted a new short story, Stimulus, a noir piece with a fantasy and horror twist.

I hit him. Teeth sprayed. “Again,” I said.

“No…”

“Again.”

He shook his head. I hit him—more teeth.

“Okay.” The words were thick. His mouth bubbled. “Goddamn it, stop, okay?”

I held up my fist. Levett talked.

I left him there: broken, beaten, alive—and better than he deserved.
