9ice: TRUTH BEHIND 9ICE NOT PERFORMIN IN DUBLIN
TRUTH BEHIND 9ICE NOT PERFORMIN IN DUBLIN
A Letter from Alapomeji Records:: RE: Our Artist 9ice performing in Dublin.
First and foremost we would like to apologize on behalf of our artist 9ice for not being able to perform in Dublin on Sept 19, 2008. The incident is very regrettable but what is more disappointing is that the organizers, KRYSTALS PROMOTIONS are failing to let the fans know the truth surrounding his lack of appearance. His lack of appearance was due to their negligence and breach of contract and in no way shape or form was it 9ice’s fault.
We are stating factually, that 9ice did everything he had to do to make sure the show would hold but the fault lies in the hands of the organizers and his lack of appearance was due to their negligence and breach of our contract, a breach that could not be overlooked by us at Alapomeji Records. Their claim was that 9ice was paid for the show and simply refused to show up, this we tell you was not the case. It is true that 9ice agreed to do the show, and we put enough trust in the organizers to follow all proper protocols, so much so we made an advance promotion tape for them to help with their promotions. As with any organizer, we always make it clear that you should not promote your show to the public until all necessary documents are in hand and even if you have the tools to do so. This is to avoid any issues or mishaps.
9ice as you may all know is a reputable artist and with all international shows we make sure that all protocols are followed before performing, i.e.; necessary visas, permits etc. According to the terms of our contract, which the organizers and their liaisons agreed on, they were to provide all necessary permits and visas for this event to ensure a legal, hitch free show. We are Alapomeji Records were put under the impression that these things were being put in place, and 9ice and his crew’s passports were collected by organizers, only to be returned to us later without the necessary visas needed to enter into Dublin. When approached by Alapomeji, the organizers and their liaisons stated that 9ice should not worry about the visa and that there is an illegal entry way from London into Dublin 9ice can follow. We blatantly refused, as we were not willing to put our artist image or welfare at risk because of their negligence and lack of honesty from the start.
Two weeks prior to the show 9ice himself intervened and offered to get the visa himself so as not to disappoint his fans, he asked the organizers and their liaisons for the proper documents as needed by the embassy. Up till a week to the show the organizers failed to provide these documents and they were told that time was no longer on our side and we would need these documents ASAP to get the necessary visas. We did not hear from the organizers on this issue, instead they proceeded to try to convince us to allow our artist enter into Dublin via an illegal route which we continued to disagree on. Days to the show, as there was no longer a way to get the visas and the organizers were still not forthcoming about the documents, we at Alapomeji decided our hands were tied, so we decided it is in the best interest of our artist to stop all efforts being put in by us and due to the organizers lack of cooperation there was no way we could go on with the show.
This incident has lead of a series of events which include 9ice’s life being threatened by someone who is supposedly one of the organizers at Kryatals Promotions, harassing phone calls at all hours of the night, and most painfully fans being mislead into believing 9ice just did not want to show up, etc.
9ice’s main concern are his fans and he is highly disappointed and pained that he could not make it to a show he was looking forward. We at Alapomeji hope you the fans of 9ice in Dublin understand our stance on this issue and we look forward to someday having 9ice in Dublin with you, performing live on stage.
A note to other organizers, 9ice is an artist just like other artists around the world and exceptions cannot be made in terms of following the laws of the country. We will not cut corners at the risk of our artist. At Alapomeji we believe in things being done the proper way and no short cuts being made.
Once again a big apology to the fans that were looking forward to seeing 9ice perform in Dublin. We hope next time Krystal Promotions and their liaisons do things the necessary way to avoid this same situation happening to other artists they wish to bring into Dublin
