Daniel Rezvani: WikiGoal

WikiGoal
November 5, 2008

Upon being bored and having nothing to do I decided to go kill some precious time wiki-ing random articles. I couldn't help but notice a bar on the head of the page that said "Wikipedia: Making Life Easier," under which lied a blue bar and a red button labeled "donate now." The end of the bar read "Our goal: $6 million" and the bar itself was 1/3 of the way full at $1,983,624. The first thought that came to my head was "wow, who the fuck would donate $2 million to Wikipedia?" (I realize it's probably an incredible amount of people donating very small amounts of money, but still, $2 million dollars?!?!). After the initial shock was over I became aware that they don't specify what the goal of $6 million is for, so the only logical conclusion must be world domination. It all makes sense, first they raise $6 million to gain confidence that they can achieve their goals (with the added benefit that they are now $6 million richer and can buy an a shitload of weapons if not an army) and then they take over the world. I'm no historian, but it seems that this is some sort of trend; whenever an organization and/or leader raise $6 million they attempt to expand, famous examples of the case are Genghis Khan, and Napoleon among others. I can only imagine that a Wiki-ruled world would suck; it would most likely evolve into a "Big-Wiki-Brother" situation where we all get fucked by the Wiki-Party. I'm also under the impression that Obama is in on this whole Wiki-takeover; why do I believe this, you may be asking yourselves, and a valid question it is. It's just a hunch, but I will get back on it as the situation develops. In the time it took me to write this note the bar actually moved up to $1,985,038; that's about $2,000 in about ten minutes...ridiculous
