I am extremely disappointed in the so called Progressives in the House. Some may call, and rightfully so, the Stupac dozen reactionary Neanderthals who are against the women's right to choose.However what makes them superior to the Progressives is the wimp factor. The Stupac pack have not yielded to pressure into abandoning their position. A few Dems and Blue Dogs apparently with President's blessings have eaten up many months and damaged the bill, by holding strong on their stance, Corporatist or otherwise.

It is the folks on the left who do not seem to be able to stand with the courage of their conviction. Over the last year, they have repeatedly shown spinelessness and greed - making them ready targets for blackmail and bribery. What is truly amazing is that they define their position as championing features in HCR critical for the American people. Then Whitehouse and Corporatist leadership starts twisting their arms threatening to cut DNC support in money and backing in the elections. They also paint the specter of Democratic Loss if they Dems do not stand behind the bill - even if it does contain that they promoted for the longest time.

And these threats cause a Group of 122 to crumble when the Hot knife Obama cuts through them as if they were a stick of butter. They completely forget the public good they were espousing.

To date not one Hill Progressive has said why the Public Option should be removed. The reason they can't answer is that they have not had the guts to ask the President this question directly. I have heard few of them say on their own or with their supporters behind them, that the reason is Corporate lobbying and money.

It is of course meaning less after the President has danced around this issue - never addressing it directly - and using his staff to blow smoke the same way. The big lie has been "President believes PO is the best way to lower cost, foster competition and keep the Insurance Companies honest. However he is open to the other alternatives providing equally good results. No such alternatives were presented and shown to do the same or better on the 3 Presidential criteria. The President has prevaricated in saying that he never campaigned on the public option. Proof of mendacity can be found in many clips and in the before and after Ad that was put together using the clips.

One clever technique of Team Obama is to blow smoke constantly while time is a passing. And then come back and pressure the Dems saying there is no time to address the issue like PO any more.

The one leader who has been holding firm so far was Nancy Pelosi. She seems to have crumbled. Rather than offering any rational reason for her change of position she was reduced to uttering some gibberish. I am sad, but the Public Option is not their in the recon package. You know we did it once - and the Senate did not send PO back to us (huh?). Your tears can not take place of the money that I have to offer up as protection money to the Insurance Mafia.

Almost all the Hippo Dems have said from time to time, "I love PO - in fact I am a Single Payer guy. But I am also a realist so I take what I can get. Half loaf is better than no loaf".

Because of their greed (reelection at the price of public good) and fear (of the Rahmsian mafia), the wimpy Progressive have also lost their brains. They can not see the speciousness of the argument advanced in the last paragraph.

To the Hill Progressives I ask: what is the real reason for pulling out the PO; the mushy BS like Pragmatism and Realty will not do. Tell the truth NOW and on the stump. Tell us who has eaten the other half of our loaf? Is it you dear Congressman, or Rahmsian Mafia or the President? Name names man.

If the Progressives in Congress can not answer this question and if they have any honor, they should return all the money they have raised in the name of the cause of Public Option. If they do it publicly at least we will know that they did not intend to steal but the circumstances forced them. If they tell us what were those circumstances., we will know that they are wimps but not thieves. That is the only consolation prize that comes to my mind.
