Arrest Made in Homicide on Martin Luther King Jr Highway
The Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit has arrested 21 year-old Harold Cornelius Hairston in connection with a homicide that occurred last month in Seat Pleasant, Maryland.
On May 15, 2010 at approximately 12:05 a.m., patrol officers responded to the 5700 block of Martin Luther King Jr Highway to assist the Seat Pleasant Police Department with the report of a shooting at the Jerry’s Carry Out. Upon arrival, patrol officers located Keith Andrell Vereen, 43, of Southeast, Washington, D.C. inside the store with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Homicide detectives were able to identify Harold Hairston, of Seat Pleasant, as a suspect in the case and obtained a warrant for his arrest. On June 29, 2010, Hairston was arrested and charged with first degree murder. The investigation revealed that the murder was the result of a personal dispute between the two inside the establishment. Harold Hairston has been remanded to the custody of the Prince George’s County Department of Corrections, where he is being held on a “no-bond” status.
