8-12-10 Brooklyn Park Homicide Suspect Located and Arrested

HOMICIDE UPDATE                                                       BROOKLYN PARK

 

On July 1, 2010, at approximately 5:35 p.m., officers from the Northern District responded to 407 Audrey Avenue for a report of a shooting.

 

Upon arrival, officers located an adult male victim inside of a vehicle suffering from apparent gunshot wound(s). The male victim, identified as Adam Ray Bucklew, 21, of 407 Audrey Avenue, Brooklyn Park, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives began conducting interviews and witnesses reported observing two male suspects fleeing from the area. Numerous officers, a K-9 unit and an Aviation unit canvassed the area in an attempt to locate the suspects, but were unable to do so.

 

Through investigative means, homicide detectives developed two suspects in this case. After conferring with the State's Attorney's Office, in the early evening of July 28, 2010, detectives applied for and received arrest warrants against the two suspects charging them with First and Second Degree Murder, Conspiracy to Commit First and Second Degree Murder, Armed Robbery, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, First and Second Degree Assault, Conspiracy to Commit First and Second Degree Assault and related Theft charges. Through the investigation, the apparent motive in this case appears to be robbery.

 

During the late evening hours of July 28, 2010, detectives from the Special Enforcement Team were able to locate one suspect, Ricky Lamont Mason, 22, of no fixed address, on Pennington Avenue in the Curtis Bay area of Baltimore City. The suspect was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

 

 

 

 

UPDATE:

 

            On August 11, 2010, at approximately 10:00 p.m., members of the Anne Arundel County Police worked collaboratively with the Philadelphia Police Department to locate and arrest the second suspect, Rodney Barnwell. Barnwell was located and taken into custody at an address on Ludlow Street in Philadelphia, where the suspect had apparent ties to the area. At this time, Barnwell remains in the custody of the Philadelphia Police Department awaiting extradition to Maryland. Detectives from the Anne Arundel County Police Department's Homicide Unit have responded to Philadelphia to interview Barnwell.
