More Records Fall Today #rva, #8news, #vawx
In the blink of an eye--when then temps hit 101 at 3:20pm—3 records were established here in Richmond. We tied the record high for the day, but more importantly, new records for the most 100 degree days in a month (7) and in a year (10). We are going to get rid of the very hot weather for the next few days thanks to a cold for that will pass through the area tonight. That will bring some evening thunderstorms, some of which could be strong. Then it will be partly cloudy with overnight lows in the upper 60s and lower 70s. Friday will be mostly sunny and nice with a high in the upper 80s and lower 90s. Friday night, we will be in for a comfortable night here in the area with lows falling back into the middle 60s. Saturday will start off with sunshine, but then some clouds will arrive in the area with highs in the mid to upper 80s. We might see a shower arrive overnight Saturday into Sunday, but there will then be a good chance for showers on Sunday with highs in the mid 80s. Showers are expected to linger in the area on Monday with temperatures of 85-90. Then we are going to heat up again into the low to mid 90s as some of the heat that will affect the Southern Plains this weekend pushes back to the east.
