by San Jacinto College on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 11:57am ·

Good Afternoon,

The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Harris County until 3:30 p.m.  The National Weather Service has indicated that flash flooding is likely from a cluster of thunderstorms over central and southern Harris County.  One to three inches of rain has already fallen over this area with an additional one to two inches of rain possible by 2:30 p.m.  In addition, a tornado watch is in effect until 8:00 p.m. this evening. Please exercise caution if you need to be out driving this afternoon and do not drive through standing water as it is not always clear how deep the water is.

Please note that our primary form of communication with the San Jacinto College community during a weather event will be through email and text messages, as well as the San Jacinto College website (www.sanjac.edu) and emergency information line (1-866-504-5853). Please log in to the SJC Alert Me system through S.O.S. and check to make sure that you have entered a cell phone number and selected a provider in the cell phone box. If you list a cell phone number as your home number, and do not enter any information in the cell phone area, you will not receive a text message.
