tephen Marley, a true descendant of “Reggae Royalty”, has established his own imprint on the music world. This producer, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist has won more Grammy awards than any single reggae artist ever. His debut solo album Mind Control was honored as the “Best Reggae Album” at last year’s ceremony. And now for his fans Stephen has taken his vision to a brand new level.

On Tuesday, December 9th, beginning exclusively through iTunes, Stephen will release a totally acoustic version of his Mind Control album. In an unprecedented endeavor Mind Control Acoustic takes eight of the tracks from the original Grammy winning effort, adds a brand new tune, and weaves a unique tapestry of sound around each and every one of them that is at the same time both different and enticing.

“It’s really not just another version of the same songs, but more of a continuation,” says Stephen. “It's a page from my book and by giving it an acoustic feel I was able to create a whole new page. I felt each song had more texture to it and I could bring out a fresh vision.”
Mind Control is all Stephen and a cornucopia of the sounds and styles that he loves. It is a collection of songs that range from conscious critiques of society and politics in the title track and "Chase Dem", to the sweet and open-hearted "Hey Baby." Done acoustically they all blend together in a harmonious recipe of his musical expression. The new song, “The Mission Acoustic,” features his brother Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley adding his vocals to the mix as well as on “The Traffic Jam.” Brother Julian Marley can be heard on the track “Iron Bars” along with Spragga Benz.
