Le Chat Noir
Hi All,
I've been working pretty hard in my spare time recently on a new event for next year. It's called Le Chat Noir.
Le Chat Noir is inspired by the original Parisian cabaret started by Rodolphe Salisin the in 1880s. This Le Chat Noir however is based on gothic and alternative music provided by DJs, as well as live music and a fashion tableau vivant. Each month with feature a different guest DJ in addition to me, a local musician and designs from a local fashion designer. The music will be low and unobtrusive and the tableau will be visible but not overbearing. All of these elements come together to create a back drop of art, design and style in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for cocktails and conversation. At the same time this will give local artists a chance to show off their abilities and wares.
In the future as the event develops I will be looking to expand it to include burlesque and/or cabaret style performances.
Le Chat Noir will be held in the Kremlin Bar on Northbourne Avenue in Canberra City every fourth Thursday of the month starting from 26th February 2009. As week night event it is run in reasonable hours between 7pm and midnight.
I will be putting up a facebook page and events in the next few weeks so keep an eye out.
