Start the New Year Healthy!
January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month
Cervical cancer is the second most common type of cancer among women worldwide. HPV, which affects one in four women, is the most common cause of cervical cancer. HPV is transmitted from skin-to-skin contact.
In addition to routine cervical cancer screening, the best way for girls and young women to protect against cervical cancer is to get vaccinated before they are at risk of contracting HPV (human papillomavirus).
Here's how you can reduce the risk of cervical cancer:
• Get vaccinated against HPV.
• Get regular Pap tests
• Get tested for HPV.
• Use condoms correctly and consistently.
