Facebook for Influencers: Build your Presence on Facebook: Get Started in 5 Easy Steps

Build your Presence on Facebook: Get Started in 5 Easy Steps
If you are a person with a large audience, we highly recommend you create a Page on Facebook in addition to your personal profile. You should continue to use your personal profile to connect with your family, friends and the people who are important to you and use your Page as a public profile to connect with your fans, supporters and followers.

You can get started creating your Page with these simple steps:

1. Login into your existing Facebook Account or create an account. Once you have logged in click here: http://www.facebook.com/page.

Select a Category and Name

2. Pick the category that best fits who you are or what your organization represents. Don’t worry if the category you select doesn’t fit perfectly, but pick the closest match since you won’t be able to change your category. Enter your name or the name of your organization as you want it to appear to Facebook users. Like the category, your name is one of the few things you won’t be able to change.

Upload Profile Picture

3. You’re now looking at your unpublished Page — now you can customize it. First, upload a profile picture by clicking “change picture” on the question mark to the left of your Page. Upload the graphic or picture that best represents you or your organization (must be a .jpef or .png and less than 4 MB) .The optimal size for this image is 200 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. You can change this image at any time just like on your personal profile.

Edit Information

About Box

4. Click the Information Tab and then click 'Edit Information' and enter as much basic and detailed information as you can. The fields available will depend on which category you chose when creating your Page. The more details you can add about who you or your organization are and what you are all about, the more successful your Page will be. Also, be sure to add a short blurb to the 'About Box' under your profile picture. Think of this box as a long term status update that you can change frequently and can speak to your state of mind, current activities or a cause you are passionate about.

Publish Page

5. Now you can publish your Page by clicking on the link directly above your Page name or by clicking the ‘Edit Page’ link under your profile picture and then clicking the “publish this Page” link. By publishing your Page you are sharing it with with everyone on Facebook and any Facebook user can now view it. You are in control of how you let the people connected to you interact with your Page.

More Tips:

The more rich content you add to your Page, the more users can interact with it and spread News Feed stories to their friends. To get started use the turnkey publisher tool to update your status:

You can also use the publisher to add rich content including photos, videos, notes / blogs, events and more. You can post a new photo album, an individual photo, or take and post a photo of yourself right from you the camera built into your computer or webcam.

You can add video clips of just about anything including behind the scenes content, your latest music video or record videos direct to your fans from the publisher on your Wall your tab.

We also recommend that you record a short video welcoming your fans to your Page. This is a light-weight way to authenticate your Page to your fans. Once they see the video they will know that all the updates from this Page are really coming from you.
