It was 1992. My mom came to my room, interrupting my solitude, asking me if I would do her a favor. I grunted. I told her I would seek him out in the 6th grade halls, but I ... See Morereally didn't want to and I really didn't do it. I eventually met Nadim through my mother. He left little of an impression at that age.
Come high school and my friends and I were constantly sneaking into clubs. Randomly, Nadim would pop up with his friends. I'd give him a quick hello, ask about his mother, and move on. Not much of an impression then either.
College came and we still ran into each other at clubs. My older sister and his older brother had become friends, we still really hadn't gone beyond exchanging formalities. We were once invited to his house for Thanksgiving and he baked peanut butter Hershey Kiss cookies.

From then on, that's all he really meant to me.
Time keeps passing, we both make a lot of dating mistakes, and finally we connect. Last fall we both ended up at a dinner where our mother's were. I remember hearing that he'd be there and thought maybe we'd exchange a few more hellos. I turned the corner to be seated at their table and he stood up from his chair. I walked right over to the empty seat next to him and I was sold.
