For Grades 5–12
How can we help students develop the thinking skills they need to be successful learners? How does this relate to deep learning of important concepts? How can we engage and support diverse learners in inclusive classrooms where they develop understanding and thinking skills? In this book, Faye and Leyton explore these questions and offer classroom examples to help busy teachers develop communities where all students learn.

The Language Experience Approach to Literacy for Children Learning English (LEALE) grew out of the many happy hours that the author spent working with children and their teachers over the years. The instructional framework presented in this book is intended to help teachers provide all young children, but especially English-language learners, with rich, meaningful, and interactive literacy instruction. Included are pictures and examples of classroom materials (chart stories and journals) from children in Belize and in urban centres in Alberta, Canada.
