One of the hikers on our Sunol hike last Saturday posted his photos, including a great shot of a golden eagle form atop Flag Hill. Check them out here:

It seems animals and insects are big in the Bay Area right now. Our events calendar is full of birding, bugs, and other beasts. The new issue of Bay Nature Connections (coming out tomorrow!) attests to this trend with a selection of walks and talks about various creatures, and a conversation with Ellie Cohen of PRBO Conservation Science.
BN editor Dan here. I went to a cool exhibit opening at the Exploratorium last night -- closes 2/15, so see it tis weekend if you can! Innovative interpretations of SF Bay Area nature.

Two artists in the show, Cris Benton and Wayne Lanier, will be doing a piece for our July issue. Cris does kite aerial photography and Wayne does "field microscopy" -- taking photos in the field with a microscope. So they can go from a scale of miles to thousands of an inch. And find beauty at every step. They're online at Hidden Ecologies.

Worth a visit. And watch for that article in July 09.
We noticed some nice but mysterious ads in BART stations -- one for Steller's jays, another with the Latin name of California poppies, both with gorgeous artwork. Had a bunch of nature geeks hit the jackpot and bought ads? Laura Hautala found out. Read about it at baynature.org.
