One thing that makes photographing weddings so fun is that each couple's unique sense of style shines through all of the day's details. No two weddings are ever the same, & it helps make our job that much more interesting. I think the best word to describe Kathryn & CJ's wedding is "lovely" - everything had such a romantic, sophisticated feel to it. From the guys' tuxedos to the beautiful flowers by [ My Flower Pros ] & the ceremony location, Charlotte's [ Little Church on the Lane ], every detail seemed perfectly put together.

The reception was at [ Roof With a View ] in downtown Charlotte. Jim Huyck of [ Keynote DJ ] kept the party going while Sabina Bummel of [ The Catering Place ] provided course after course of yummy food. To finish everyone off, dessert was a cake by [ Edible Art of Charlotte ].

During the reception, we snuck off to the roof & areas right around the venue for some photos of the bride & groom. This roof has a fantastic view - I am pretty sure you can see the whole city from there.

Love this shot - so fun! I think this might be my new favorite bouquet toss photo.

The balloons not only looked cool for the reception photographs, but inadvertently provided lots of entertainment for all of the kids in attendance. Plus, they made for cute exit photos of the bride & groom, floating off to their honeymoon! :)

Thanks again, guys!

Later the same chilly day, we shot Ginger & Thomas' engagement photos in downtown Greensboro (thanks for sticking out the freezing weather with us, guys!!). Despite the cold, we had a lot of fun & can't wait till the wedding in 2011!

This adorable little guy came along on the shoot & made an appearance in a few frames. Scout seemed pretty excited about getting a break from the long car ride to get out & stretch his legs... and his vocal chords! I have to say, this has to be one of the most talkative dogs I've ever met. So cute! :)

Thanks a lot guys!
We met Laura & Chad early one morning in downtown Charlotte for a VERY cold shoot! We had a great time getting to know the two of them. They are such sweet, laid back people that it made our job very easy. :) We can't wait for the wedding on New Year's Eve!

Sarah & Jonathan had a backyard wedding & reception at Sarah's parents' home in Concord last month. Sarah, Jonathan, & their families got amazingly crafty & put absolutely everything together themselves. I am in love with all the do-it-yourself brides we have worked with lately! It's so great when couples are able to add their own personal touch to their wedding.

On a side note, we are SUPER excited to finally be able to post larger images on our blog! Woohoo! :D Over time, we will go back in & re-post all of our old blog posts with larger pictures, so be on the lookout for those!

Sarah & Jonathan's daughter, Marley, was one of the most adorable little flowergirls we have seen in a long time. Look at that dress & hairpiece! So cute. Jewelry & hairpiece made by mom, of course. :)

Sarah did her own hairpiece & jewelry as well - this girl needs to get a shop on [ Etsy ] & start selling this stuff to all of the brides out there who are not so creatively inclined!

Sarah & Jonathan opted for a first look, & wasn't it SO worth it?? Love their expressions. :)

Plus, it gave us so much time to explore the property & take tons of great photos of the soon-to-be bride & groom.

Sarah has killer brown eyes with lashes to die for!

Sarah got so creative with the paper centerpieces & bouquets, & the multicolored lanterns were a great touch. Love it!!

Even the food was a family affair - Jonathan's dad is a caterer who did an amazing job on the food & hooked them up with a great baker he knows for their cake.

Love Sarah & Jonathan's expressions as they watched their little girl walking down the aisle - so sweet! Marley decided she wanted to be a part of the ceremony too, so joined mom & dad up front. ;)

Sarah & her dad had one of the sweetest father-daughter dances we've seen to date. There were so many adorable photos - it was hard to narrow it down to just one!

You can tell Sarah & Jonathan have really close, amazing families. The whole day Jonathan's mom was full of laughs & smiles from ear to ear. :)

Thanks again, Sarah & Jonathan! We really enjoyed being a part of your wedding day!

Sophia & Truc's day started with a traditional Vietnamese ceremony. Truc's family met Sophia's family with wine & gifts in her "village" - or in this case, her hotel room since they were far from their home in New York :) - & took her back with them to their house for the rest of the ceremony.

After their procession into the house, they performed an incense & tea ceremony.

Later that afternoon, we met back up with Sophia & Truc for the American ceremony at [ the Lodge at Ballantyne ]. Loved all of Sophia's details - the dress, shoes, & flowers by [ Crawford & Company Florist ] were gorgeous! Plus, I am always a fan of purple as a color theme for weddings - so fun!

I say this all the time, but this great light during the ceremony is further proof of why I love outdoor ceremonies!

The new Mr. & Mrs. :)

We found a sweet parking deck across the street when we were scouting locations & LOVED how well it worked for photos!

Usually it's the bride who does the "foot popping," but Truc totally worked it! hehe. ;)

I adored all of the details at the reception. The apples & pears, the menus - everything looked so fabulous & well put together. [ The Ballantyne's ] in-house catering provided the dinner & even put together the wedding cake. I was very impressed!

Sophia & Truc used chocolates from [ Jacques Torres ] in New York as cute & yummy wedding favors/seating cards.

How adorable are Sophia & Truc together?? These next two photos put a big smile on my face. :)

Thanks again & congratulations, Sophia & Truc!

Maureen & LJ's wedding went so smoothly that we hardly even noticed the rain coming down all day. Plus, it gave us a chance to get resourceful & do all of our photographs indoors for a nice change of pace. They got married at [ Market Square ] which is a huge renovated building used primarily for High Point's furniture market & it was totally our style - really rustic with lots of brick walls & wooden floors.

Maureen was definitely one of the most glamorous brides we've had the pleasure of photographing. The old Hollywood style to her dress, hair, & accessories were fabulous! Maureen got her jewelry from [ Design Archives ] in Greensboro & her hairpiece from [ Etsy ]. To any brides planning a wedding, both are fantastic places to look for some really unique details & accessories - I would totally recommend checking them out!

[ Imagine Flowers ] did a wonderful job on the bouquets - loved the feather accents!

LJ & his attendants (& the whole wedding party, for that matter) were so fun to work with. Maureen & LJ surround themselves with a great group of people & we thoroughly enjoyed photographing everyone in attendance.

Sneaking a smoke break out the window. :)

Love these next two shots of LJ & his grandma. So sweet!

The ceremony was supposed to be held outdoors in the courtyard under the water tower, but due to the rain it had to be moved indoors. Luckily they had a great indoor space that wound up working perfectly for the ceremony.

We had a lot of fun using flash for all of the portraits of the bride & groom. Made for some really dramatic photos!

The reception was at [ Sammy G's ] restaurant in Market Square. It made for a gorgeous place for a reception! Andrew Comstock with [ K2 Productions ] was the DJ for the evening & did a fantastic job of keeping everybody getting down on the dance floor all night.

[ Mary Ann Blade ] put together the perfect cake to fit Maureen & LJ's style. Loved the flower design up the side of the cake.

Loved Maureen & LJ's expressions during the hilarious toast from Maureen's sister, Rachel (the photos are a little small, so you may want to click on the photos to view them full size).

LJ wrote the absolute sweetest song for Maureen & sang it to her as a surprise during the reception. I think everyone's heart melted just a little. :)

A little bit of rain during the exit never hurt anyone. :)

Thank you guys again for your patience & for giving us the chance to photograph your beautiful day!

WOW has October ever been a busy month!! As many of you may know, we have been moving into a new home... just moving alone would have been enough to keep us busy for weeks, but we have also been traveling all over the state shooting tons of weddings & other photo shoots this month. We are working hard to get it all edited, but in the meantime we thought we'd share a few teasers to hold everyone over until we can get the full blog posts & online proofing sites posted.

Here's a peek into what we've been working on this month. Thanks for everyone's patience & hope you enjoy the photos! :)

As always, we are thrilled when a fellow wedding photographer asks us to shoot their wedding! Alison of [ Alison Church Photography ] traveled all the way from Atlanta for her wedding in the beautiful mountains near Asheville.

It was our first time shooting at [ Claxton Farm ] & I totally fell in love. The venue is still an active farm (complete with llamas & mini horses!) & is surrounded by beautiful mountains & farmland.

Claxton even has a game of horseshoes set up out back. How fun is that?

Alison's dress couldn't have been more perfect for her mountain wedding - she found her vintage wedding dress online.

Hanging out with the guys.

In LOVE with the whole wildflower look to the floral arrangements! Can you believe Alison put these together herself??

And as usual, we were super excited Alison & Matt decided to see each other before the ceremony for some "first look" photos. I know I say this every time, but it makes the day so much less stressful & enjoyable for the bride & groom...

And it gives you cute photos like these! :)

And it gives us tons of time to take a bunch of photos of the couple together, too!

I can't stop raving about how much I loved Alison's wedding details. Everything just fit the mountain theme perfectly. Her gorgeous cake was created by [ Tiffany's Baking Co. ] in Candler, NC. Outside of that, all the details were done in their entirety by Alison with the help of her bridal party. Just goes to show that with some creativity, there are a lot of do-it-yourself things you can do to make your wedding really "you."

The ceremony spot was perfect too, with beautiful light & a gorgeous backdrop of mountains & wide open sky.

Another unique detail that really added that personal touch to Alison & Matt's wedding was the band. The [ Packway Handle Band ] came all the way from their home state of Georgia for the wedding & played for the couple & their guests from the start of the day until the end of the evening. I am always a big fan of live music at weddings, so it was really fun to see a band included in both the ceremony & reception.

I don't usually talk much about officiants at weddings, but I have to tip my hat to [ Howard Hanger ]. This was one of the sweetest ceremonies I've seen. He had a way with words during the ceremony that just really made you feel all the love & devotion that comes together in this big moment for a bride & groom.

I know I already said so, but I love this spot for photos!!

Thanks again, guys!! :)

Obviously, this blog post is a little overdue, but I wanted to share some of the photos from my sister's senior prom this past spring. Whether we're doing prom photos or senior portraits, senior sessions always wind up being some of the most fun to shoot! I had a great time hanging out in downtown Greensboro photographing Kristen, Jason, Jordan, & Bo looking all snazzy in their prom get-up. Thanks again for letting me be a part of your special day, guys!
