From the Kitchen of Deep South Dish

2 tablespoons of granulated sugar

2 teaspoons of cinnamon

1/2 cup (1 stick) of butter, softened at room temperature

1/2 cup vegetable shortening

2 large eggs

1-1/2 cups of granulated sugar

2-3/4 cups of all purpose flour

2 teaspoons of cream of tartar

1 teaspoon of baking soda

Pinch of kosher salt

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In a small bowl, stir together the 2 tablespoons of sugar with the cinnamon; set aside. In a large bowl, cream the butter and shortening together; add the eggs and the 1-1/2 cups of sugar. Sift the flour, cream of tartar, baking soda and salt into the sugar butter mixture and blend together. Scoop dough and roll into small balls. Roll balls in the cinnamon sugar mixture and place on an ungreased cookie sheet, leaving space in between. Bake at 400 degrees F for about 8 to 10 minutes (depending on how large you rolled the cookies) and transfer from the baking sheet to a cooling rack to fully cool. Makes about 4 dozen cookies (depending on how large you rolled the balls)
