Football Italiano: Serie B Week 13 Preview

Serie B Week 13 Preview

Week 13 of the Serie B season features a number of intriguing clashes, particularly the encounters between Torino & Lecce and Sassuolo & Modena.

Torino currently lie sixth in the table while Lecce are second, yet a mere three points separate both teams. This implies that a victory for the Toro would have them tied on points. The Turin based club rely on former Manchester City striker Rolando Bianchi for goals, and he currently tops the Serie B scoring charts with nine goals. The Giallorossi, on the other hand, are lethal upfront and their goals have been fairly distributed amongst three main players- Baclet with five goals, followed by Corvia and Marilungo on four strikes each. The two clubs are strong offensively and decent at the back so it should be a cracking game.

The other highlight fixture this round will see Modena travel to take on Sassuolo’s lethal offence, which will in all likelihood leave its mark on the mediocre defensive line of the Canarini. The visitors have found it difficult to find the back of the net this season, so it should be an intriguing match up with the home team slightly favoured.

In other fixtures league leaders Ancona travelling to play Crotone in a relatively easy encounter, while third placed Cesena host Albinoleffe in a match they will expect to win. Frosinone will play away to Gallipoli, who have an anaemic attack, and the away team will likely emerge victorious.

Other fixtures for this round include:
Ascoli – Cittadella
Brescia – Triestina
Cesena – Albinoleffe
Crotone – Ancona
Empoli – Reggina
Padova – Salernitana
Piacenza – Mantova
Sassuolo- Modena
Torino – Lecce
Vicenza – Grosseto
