Ahead of Veterans Day on Wednesday, Mr. Obama will sign an Executive Order “on the employment of veterans in the federal government” in the Oval Office, the White House says. The Executive Order will establish a Council on Veterans Employment that will be chaired by the Secretaries of Labor and Veterans Affairs.

George, you may not know that but veterans face a more difficult time seeking employment than the general population. The unemployment rate among veterans is greater than the general population, and many are homeless. In these difficult times, anything that we can to help our returning veterans reintegrate into our society ought to be warmly welcomed. It is our society's way of paying tribute to their sacrifice and a show of our gratitude.
