For over two weeks Lakeland Vision reached out to the community to ask a single question: "What can we do to make Lakeland the best it can be in the coming years?" From that single question came over 1000 ideas about Lakeland's future. No stone (in this case, "idea") was left unturned. Some ideas like, "Relocate the art in Lake Mirror, the Red one" were very specific. Others, well, not so much. ("Invest in the arts") What was most exciting to watch was the diversity of ideas being generated. It was inspiring to hear the youth talk about political rallies, racial unity, infrastructure, and services for the homeless. It was also fun to listen to the difference of opnions and to find some common themes.

It's been 10 years since the people of Lakeland have come together to share ideas about our community's future. Based on what we have heard there's a lot of passion for our community. That's what's going to turn these ideas into reality. Well, that plus the next few steps of the Make Your Mark program! Whether you were able to participate in the Idea Gathering meetings or not you should check out the ideas that resulted. Pretty fascinating stuff, really.
