Join Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Joan McCarter next week at Netroots Nation

July 12, 2010 at 12:19pm

Five years ago when we held our first convention in Las Vegas, Democrats were in the minority in both houses of Congress and George W. Bush was in the middle of his second term.

A lot has changed in five years. But like our first YearlyKos Convention, Nevada's own Harry Reid will join us again at Netroots Nation for a conversation with you.

Sen. Reid will join us for an interactive Ask the Leader session moderated by Joan McCarter, contributing editor at Daily Kos. In the next week and a half, she will gather questions via Twitter and Facebook and from blog comment threads. You can also submit your own question in advance right here.

The Ask the Leader session is scheduled for Saturday at 3:15 p.m. Later that evening, Sen. Al Franken will speak to you about continuing the progressive fight.

In addition to Sens. Reid and Franken, you'll hear from Elizabeth Warren, Gov. Brian Schweitzer, Ed Schultz, Sen. Jeff Merkley, Sen. Ben Cardin, Rep. Alan Grayson, Rep. Raul Grijalva, Rep. Jared Polis, Rep. Donna Edwards, Van Jones, Rich Trumka, Lizz Winstead, Majora Carter, Markos Moulitsas, Tarryl Clark, Bill Halter, George Goehl, Phaedra Ellis-Lamkins, Deepak Bhargava, Gerald McEntee, Eliseo Medina and many more.

Just last week the Tea Party canceled their convention scheduled to happen this weekend, saying the Las Vegas heat is too much to bear. But we know that not even the heat will keep our community from gathering, organizing and planning for progressive change in 2010 and beyond.

We hope to see you there when Senator Reid takes the stage in Las Vegas.

See you next week!

P.S. Don't forget to submit your question for Senator Reid in the comments section of this note.
