This will be the second year for the Staying Independent Fair, co-sponsored by the PASC and the Olympic Area Agency on Aging’s Information and Assistance office. From 10 am to 2 pm you will be able to discover some of the many ways you can continue to pursue your independence through taking care of your health through screenings for balance, dental, and blood pressure, for example, plus alternative health options like Feldenkrais therapy, acupuncture and herbal remedies, to name a few. You can also find out tips on taking care of your finances, how to increase mobility in your home, and what are the latest tools for coping with vision or hearing loss.
This year we will be adding some new features like pets for adoption by the Olympic Peninsula Humane Society and even a Pain Management Specialist from the makers of Oxycontin! Some other new resources will be a Housing Specialist from the Housing Resource Center, a demonstration of mobility equipment by EWC Lift Systems, as well as fall prevention assessments.
The staff of the O3A’s Information and Assistance office will all be there to answer questions on Medicare, Medicaid, Family Caregiver Support, long-term care and many other programs. All this, plus door prizes and energetic demonstrations of PASC program favorites like Zumba Gold, Line Dancing, Belly Dancing, Corn Hole and even Rowing!
We promise a fun and fascinating day, all for free, including door prizes and even a free lunch for the first 200 visitors (some of which will contain special coupons for a free Sr. Center trip or tour, so mark your calendar and come on down to the Port Angeles Sr. & Community Center Friday, May 3rd!
