The front of my house now.

Right under my kitchen window.

Musk mallow.

Columbines.

The hydrangea Beck generously bought for me when she was visiting!

Right under my half bathroom window. Beck bought me the peony too! Ethan's asters are in front and oriental poppies in the back.

My crazy cosmos! They were only supposed to grow 2-3 feet from seed, but I have a 5 foot high fence of them now!

The mystery plant. I bought it at Loblaws for $1. It was just in the perrenial section without a tag on it and the people working there had no idea what it was. It has purple and green leaves and it started to grow cute little yellow flowers until about a week ago. It looks like it's starting to die, but I just planted it in the ground from the pot it came in, so I hope it survives!

Crazy cosmos.

My four o'clocks, which I have yet to see bloom at 4 o'clock yet. I think they still need to grow more, But they should be really pretty! I have yellow, orange, and a deep pink (maybe red too).

Flower bed at the back now.

The scarlet calendula Ethan gave me for Mother's Day. It's finally blooming!

Calendula again.

My zinnias.

Zinnias.

Really pretty zinnia.

The citrosa plant I bought for fighting misquitoes. It actually works! It smells just like a citronella candle. I had no idea it would get flowers but all of a sudden one day it grew these cute little pink flowers. I guess it's part of the geranium family.

Creeping speedwell under the big window at the back of the house.

Creeping speedwell.

Red valerian. It needs something to hold it up because it's actually really tall, but it fell over from it's weight. It's really nice looking. Beside it is my boxwood and some columbine seed sprouts I planted.

Red valerian.

Our flowerbed right after we planted the seeds.

You can see the cosmos starting!

Right after me and Beck planted the front garden.

Right under the half bathroom window before planting anything.

Under the kitchen window. Sorry about the blurriness, my camera sucks sometimes. Beck moved the lillies (the only thing planted there at the time) to the other side of the basement window.

Before we did anything.

So, I starting gardening this year for the first time. Just flowers and inedible plants. I started at the very beginning of June when I dug up some flower beds in the backyard and me and my son planted seeds that we picked out. This is all I was going to do, because I could spend hundreds of dollars EASILY on plants and I really didn't want to. Then I made the mistake of going to Home Depot when they were having a perennial sale. Knowing not too much about plants in general, I haphazardly picked out plants I liked the look of and spent around $50. I didn't consider if the plants would go together, if they would grow well in the conditions of my yard, where they would go or if they needed extra care. That's kinda how I roll with everything in life. Sad, really. I also picked out some plants that were on sale at Loblaws to fill in the gaps of my haphazard choices.
Anyways, I have before and after pictures of my flower gardens - both front and back!
