Who's your Daddy Recorded Music?
Thomas Edison gets a big "Father's Day" thank you from Recorded Music. He tracked that first hit, "Mary had a Little Lamb" back in 1877.
Uhh... But I guess this doesn't quite count as music - since Edison actually spoke it as a poem.
Uhh... And I guess it wasn't technically the first "Recorded" Music. French inventor Edouard-Leon Scott de Martinville made a sound recording back in 1860. But this guy only recorded a VISUAL squiggle of music on smoke-covered paper. He just wanted to LOOK at sound... not play it back. Guess that explains a lot about French music.... better to look at than hear.....
Happy Father's Day Tom!
P.S. Thanks for the carbon microphone too.
