'Bye Bye Chai'

August 26, 2010 at 6:09pm

It is with mixed emotions that we said goodbye to Chai, our 7 month old agile wallaby joey last weekend. She is now at a 'soft release' enclosure in Mt Molloy which will prepare her for life in the wild. Dedicated wildlife rescuer Clair Baker was kind enough to take over Chai's care and introduce her to the ways of the wallabies. Claire has an amazing property (complete with freshwater streams, rainforest, bushland and dams) situated between two national parks. It is a veritable Garden of Eden for macropods.

Chai was a joy to rear and we look forward to the next phase on her journey back to the wild - a place all Australian fauna deserve to live.
