Trident Technical College Celebrates the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Trident Technical College will celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. as participants in the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemoration on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at MUSC’s St. Luke’s Chapel.
The event is sponsored by the Intercollegiate Consortium, which consists of a group of students from Charleston Southern, The Citadel, College of Charleston, MUSC and TTC, and will include the recognition of TTC’s Humanitarian Award recipient Carolyn Hunter, president of C&A Unlimited, Inc. The commemoration is scheduled to take place from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and is open to the public.
TTC will also host a Unity Walk on Thursday, Jan. 19, on its Main Campus in North Charleston. The walk will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Building 920 and will conclude at Building 410. Students, faculty and staff, as well as members of the public are encouraged to participate.
Other Upcoming Activities:
Following the MLK celebrations, Trident Technical College will kickoff Black History Month with an opening celebration at Main Campus on Feb. 1 at 10:30 a.m. Guest speaker for the event will be Dr. Patricia Lessane, Director of Avery Research Center. The new Mount Pleasant Campus will follow with a “Showcase” on Feb. 15, while the Palmer Campus will celebrate a “Spotlight” on Feb. 22. The Berkeley Campus will conclude the month’s celebrations with a “Spotlight” on Feb. 29. All events are free and open to the public.
