Our national parks belong to all of us: to visit, to enjoy, and to care for. What better way to restore, preserve, and protect our priceless natural, cultural, and historical treasures than through the efforts of thousands of people providing millions of service hours in our parks?

No doubt. Maybe if you gave him a few hundred thousand dollars, then he'd probably pay more attention to your concerns. I surely hope he gets defeated, he's such a bald-faced hypocritical politician, switching allegiances whichever way will get him re-elected.

Carolyn and I were privileged to visit these areas and Chaco Canyon a few years ago. they were magnificent. We also had the chance to drive the unpaved roads of the desert near Chaco Canyon well after night had fallen. If you think these areas a great in the day time you should see them at night. The sky was unlike anything I have seen before or ... Read Moresince. The Milky Way really was and every star so clear as to make tears come to your eyes. A caveat though, driving the back roads of the desert is not for the faint of heart even in the day and night makes it even more of an adventure. What FEW signs there are often painted over by bored youths so take a very good GPS. We did not and it all worked out OK. Take a vehicle designed for off road but stay on the roads and plenty of water.
Donna at 8:53am July 8
We were also privileged to visit these parks and spend 2 weeks camping in canyon de chelly - the first week was a new moon - complete darkness with only the sliver of night sky - the second a full moon - no need of flashlights - the canyon walls reflected the light - truly an experience of a lifetime -

I'm weird, I guess, but I don't like this. I'd be willing be pay twice what I currently pay to get into a national park and see a lot less people. It's funny how people will complain about entrance fees to state and national parks but always find money to go the movies, buy junk food, or buy video games. And I also think that people respect what ... Read Morethey have to pay for--and this includes national parks. How can we go to the national parks when we have no way of knowing who is carrying a loaded, concealed gun?!!!!!
Michael at 10:30am June 16
Helen, does this mean you stay in your house and never go outside? I don't like the legislation either, but it's not that drastic. Criminals have already carried loaded guns in the parks, because they don't care if there are laws against it. Like I said, I don't like the legislation either, but it's more of the whole keeping honest people honest scenario. It won't keep me out of the parks.
