National Student Speech Language Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
National membership is available to undergraduate, graduate, or doctoral students enrolled full- or part-time in a communication sciences program or related major.

Founded:
NSSLHA was established on July 1, 1972 through a merger of Sigma Alpha Eta and the ASHA Student Journal Group. Originally the organization was named the National Student Speech and Hearing Association. In 1980 the name officially changed to NSSLHA.

If you join NSSLHA (http://www.nsslha.org/nsslha/join/) you will have access to NSSLHA's journal (Contemporary Issues in Communication Disorders and Sciences) and all of ASHA's Journals (http://www.asha.org/publications/journals/).

We can’t speak for NIDCD funded programs but you could check out the Graduate School Fair during the ASHA Convention in New Orleans to research doctoral programs in speech-language disorders. Perhaps through speaking to some of the advisors of the doctoral problems you might come across something similar to for speech and language.
