As a woman who has a normal CRP level yet had a heart attack at age 30 due to a blocked artery, I'm happy to see the reminder that CRP is only one of MANY markers (and isn't a cause of heart disease). Just because you have normal CRP doesn't mean you're in the clear.

Saturated Fats is the number 1 cause for heart attack. In vegetarians, the risk is reduced by 50% among other diseases, because they don't eat meat. Animal products is the only source of Sat. fats. Veggie is the way to go, in order to be heart healthy!

Seems to me that it probably is actually the soy affecting men's hormone levels... not because of the low levels of estrogens but because 85% of the soy beans grown in North America are GMO... the genetically altered soy bean is starting to have it's adverse affects in just 10 short years of being on the market... yet another outstanding reason to eat only organic foods

Andre

It's not really accurate for anyone because there is no mechanism to account for lean (non fat) mass. The most accurate way to calculate this is hydrostatic (underwater testing). Skinfold calipers are a good way too as long as you use multiple (I like 9) sites.

It does matter, because different ethnicities have varying risks of developing certain diseases. For example, Asian Americans develop heart disease at lower BMIs than Caucasians. Does that makse sense?
