I had this gorgeous style that I loved, but the fitter tried me with a stronger different style of shoe and they killed my feet (they were too wide). Went back yesterday and got my old style back *sigh of relief*. My shoes are BLOCHS!

There was a large article in the Sunday Times a couple of weeks ago about the layoffs. As for aisles, when everyone crowds into the two aisles after a performance like the Met, there'll be a different set of complaints. Funneling everyone to the side and using the two side exits emptied the theater faster than most.

I'm old enough to remember why Balanchine and Kirstein wanted the orchestra without center aisles; it was always a little different from anyone else; a little idiosyncratic. More fun. And the row was big enough to walk through. But there's too much nervousness out there to be even a little idiosyncratic or different! It'll be fine. But I love fifth ring best! Wrote my book up there...
