ON THE WRIGHT STUFF TUESDAY NOVEMBER 10
PART 1: HELLOS & MENU
PARTS 2 & 3: TODAY’S TOP STORY
After the break: the panel’s views on today’s top story: the man who’s been awarded £1.4 million compensation after a stroke that resulted from years of drug-taking in jail. Ellis Sherwood - who was wrongly jailed for murder - says prison officers should have prevented him taking drugs while inside. But whatever happened to free will? Should he really be getting taxpayers’ cash? After that Duncan will take us through the rest of today’s headlines.
PART 4: DO MUMS’ VIEWS COME FIRST ON KIDS?
Then our first phone-in: Do mums’ views come first when it comes to decisions about their kids’ lives? That’s what one paediatrician reckons. He was giving evidence at the case of baby RB - the seriously ill one-year-old whose parents are at loggerheads over whether he should be allowed to die. Professor Andrew Bush said a mother’s view should always outweigh that of the father. But is he right? And if so, does that hold for every decision about a child? Like where they should go to school, what hobbies they should take up, how they should be disciplined? What do you say?
PART 5: LAST MINUTE DECLARATIONS OF LOVE
After that: last minute declarations of love. What do you think of those who wait until the very last moment to declare their feelings for a friend who’s about to tie the knot with someone else? That’s exactly what Duncan’s character, Linden Cullen, did in Holby City a few months back as he vainly attempted to stop Patsy Kensit’s character from marrying another man. He chose her wedding day to declare his love. Is it ever excusable to confront someone with such earth-shattering news on their big day? Perhaps you’ve done just that or had someone do that for you. Did it prompt you to change your mind? Or is it better to forever hold your peace? Your stories please.
PART 6: MOTOR MOUTHS
And finally: motor mouths. A survey out last week reckons a quarter of British motorists regularly talk to their vehicle while 3% admit to kissing their car and 8% carry photos of their wheels on their mobile phone. Are you one of them, I wonder? Do you chatter to your car, give it a pet name, consider it one of the family? Or is that nuts? Perhaps it's some other inanimate object you turn to for conversation. Yeah, what? Your laptop, telly, plants. Give us a call please.
