Open Rights Group

Open Rights Group Facebook group organising against the Digital Economy Bill, disconnection, taxes and rubber-stamped copyright “laws”: Join it!

This is a page for people who do not support the Digital Economy Bill. We do not want an additional £0.50 tax on our landlines to fund universal access. We do not want an increase in Ofcom's regulatory powers over the Internet. We do not want a three strikes disconnection law.

i agree with graham on this one - the £.50 tax should be ignored as honestly, it may make you look like elitist, penny-pinching moaners. Drop your resistance to this and then the opposition can't focus on this and tear you to shreds over what amounts to tuppence a fortnight...the other issues are the ones you really need to focus on. Don't let the ... Read Morebig issue get clouded by the little ones.

Also, by you and I paying fifty pence, it will increase your potential support base exponentially - as they say, 'you do the math(s)'

@ Guy Herbert I'm sure I'm not the only one who has already tried discussing this with my MP, and found he was just not interested enough to listen. Time to be blunt about it.

While ORG supporters have been writing to MEPs in obvious dismay at the Parliamentary negotiators climbdown, European ISPs, consumer groups and others today piled into the debate. So did the Greens and Pirate party. Several are warning the European Parliament that its’ credibility is at risk.

Open Rights Group EU Parliament’s credibility undermined by back track on citizens’ rights. Take action: write to your MEP asking them to put pressure on their team to preserve our rights.
