Santa's gone all 2.0
24 December 2009, 4:28 am
|
It’s Christmas Eve and as everybody is winding down for the holiday, there is one person who is at their busiest time of the year. I’m talking about Santa of course. As a rule only the lucky few get to see him (that’s if you’ve been good that is) however this year typically shy Santa has bravely agreed to make his movements public. Working with NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) Santa has allowed a mixture of radar, satellites, Santa Cams and fighter jets to monitor his movements as he travels the globe delivering presents to those who are nice.

A live feed is also available through Google Earth so you can track when Santa is approaching your area however be warned the very helpful FAQ page does state that he will only appear when you are asleep so you might not see him this year.
All of us at The Feed wishes everyone a very Merry Christmas!

your own private beach
17 December 2009, 3:39 am
|
On our fourth day of Christmas goodness, The Feed brings you your own private beach... or woodland... or cosy wood-stove cottage! Just call the Orange Relaxation Line free on 347 and choose one of five scientifically-proven relaxing sounds...
Given eight in ten people in the UK crave some form of daily stress relief from work and family pressures, Orange decided to travel the length and breadth of the country to capture these tranquil sounds for people to listen to. Our research showed that nearly seven in ten of us (67%) found the sound of the sea lapping against the shore the ultimate calming environment to listen to, followed by a crackling log fire (47%), the sound of a forest (33%), birdsong (33%) and a typical English village green (18%).
The line is free for Orange customers (just dial 347 from your Orange handset) while non Orange customers can call 0207 050 6888. The options are:
- Woodland Forest
- Waves lapping on Brighton beach
- Traditional hubbub of an English village green
- Calming crackle of a log fire
- Restful hum of birdsong
“Recent studies show that listening to recorded sounds of the ocean for just 12 minutes can lower both the pulse and blood pressure," explains Richard Schoch, Professor of the History of Culture at the University of London and Author of The Secrets of Happiness. "We know certain sounds make us feel calmer because they slow down the body’s stress response: listening to the sounds on the Orange Relaxation Line can help inject a bit of calm into a frenzied lifestyle”.
