Our School Today Roma activists from Jászladány, a town which has seen one of the
most complex cases of segregation in Hungary, complete a 130 kilometers

Great to see him in action. The EUMAP program of the Open Society Institute has been supporting his work over the past several years, as follow-up advocacy to the Equal Access to Quality Education for Roma reports. The reports, as well as a description of his work, can be found at: http://www.eumap.org/topics/minority/reports/roma_education/

Ana Mihaltan Anyway, regarding Madonna's speech about Roma people...she came in Romania with her lessons well done, but i didn't hear so far about her interests in anything else but music...so Madonna, really doesn't have ideas of her own about how Roma people are really living and how are they treated.

I have no idea what Madonna hoped to accomplish. I don't think she's looked a poor person in the eyes since 1982. But, on the reverse side, I've met dozens of Romanians who've never been to my country, yet are eager to tell me what they think of American society or Obama. So let Madonna's ignorance be a lesson for all of us- because I don't know ... See Morehow much she learned from it herself.
But if you want to know about Americans who do get directly involved, rather than selling expensive tickets to criticism sessions, forget about Madonna and check out these guys:

I'm not involved with them myself, but I do believe they do more good than Madonna.

well, there is a little more nuance to that than AP's rather mixed bag report makes it. She sounded quite condescending and as CTP said I came here for the show not a political lesson.
Now the public may have reacted to her tone than her actual comment I don't know for sure. But this was not the venue and the person to really start that dialogue. ... See MoreWe know she won't get credits for making Romanians more tolerant let's put it this way.
But she loves to create controversy so who knows maybe she enjoyed it.
Curious to see if she tries the same in Hungary and the reactions there.

Guys, she sucked at too many things during the show so people were booing her more than the true meaning of the message.
Don't worry about discrimination in Romania. We are quite ok.
And then, after all, in Romania you get discriminated regardless of your ethnic origin. Romanians get discriminated by the Government/gypsies want to be positively discriminated/elder people are financially discriminated/rural area is totally discriminated aso. What the f... are we talking about?
