Own Art

Own Art The programme demonstrates that with Own Art you no longer need to be fabulously wealthy to afford to hang a Blake, a Banksy or a Hockney over your fireplace.

The film features collectors, young and old, who speak from the heart about how art has affected their lives. In addition, you can follow the journeys of two ind...ividuals who have commissioned their own paintings. A commission is a brave step and a big investment that was once the preserve of the gentry. Not any more, as the programme shows - now we can all own art!

This autumn, BBC One’s flagship arts documentary series, Imagine.. focuses on the Own Art scheme and uncovers a variety of people who are part of a small revolution in the art world.

A panel of arts professionals will select works to be exhibited, including Julia Alvarez, Director, BEARSPACE, Mike Simms, co-editor of Printmaking Today and Pryle Behrman, art critic and curator of Art projects.

PRINT NOW is an open submission exhibition being run by Own Art gallery, BEARSPACE for a physical and online exhibition to be held at the London Art Fair from 13-17 January 2010, in the Art Projects space.
