I’m traveling today but I won’t have 100 lbs of toddler and luggage to carry, and I can take all the liquids I want. Gasp, I don’t even have to use a zip lock. Oh, the joys of car travel!! I am packing extra liquids as I write this.

Organizing a reading tour is a lot of fun. I like getting back in touch with people and meeting new people. I often wonder how my friends with bands booked tours and managed to connect the dots between locations. It’s really a talent.

The most recent Poets and Writers contains an article on Sarah Manguso and her new memoir. I’m a bit memoired out. However, this sound like a real-life, true, and understated memoir, so I may have to read it.

My Secret Song

(Sunday, June 15, 2008 at 3:21pm)

At the end of the rainbow, I would find my song,
my speech , my voice, I will find my tongue,
and if I find the line my life was sprung,
I will pull the strings, I will find my funk.

My dreams undreamt, will sleep with me,
my tongue is gone, so your secrets are safe with me.
Though if by the rainbow I find my tongue,
I will need the words, to sing my song.

Your secrets have words, that I would need,
I would need those words to make my song complete.
Indeed your secrets are safe with me.
For I will sing my song only to me!

Journey In The Pizza Palace
By Steph Spiers

I wait in line:
Monday pizza oozes its melt.
That melt
squeezed from mozzarella. . .
in an oven’s holy silvered place.
The heat makes it special.
The same heat
I bask in, waiting watching TV.

Melts the shallow hypocrites,
ousting a Dictator.
While thick smoke floats
over the debris of Baghdad, bombed out
Iraq.
They still live on in
voyeuristic TV bulletins.

White smokes crowd my senses,
mouth-dust, mote of eye.
They rest, on the salivating edge
of precipice.
That threw those into the ether
Aga’s glare like volcano
incandescence.

It is a throb
this calamity of life.
A glittering prize the world will squander.
At last! The cardboard box arrives.
‘Can I have
jalapenos on that to go?’

You Can Be Whatever You Want To Be!
by: Donna Levine

There is inside you
All of the potential
To be whatever you want to be;
All of the energy
To do whatever you want to do.
Imagine yourself as you would like to be,
Doing what you want to do,
And each day, take one step
Towards your dream.
And though at times it may seem too
difficult to continue,
Hold on to your dream.
One morning you will awake to find
That you are the person you dreamed of,
Doing what you wanted to do,
Simply because you had the courage
To believe in your potential
And to hold on to your dream.

A dream is a dream,
Nothing more nothing less,
As I think about this
My heart starts so race.
Why can't it be true
Why can't it be real
I love the idea of not having to feel
The sadness and cruelness
Of reality and love,
Of dying and perishing
And living life to it's full
In dreams all I have to do is fall
Fall into clouds
Fall into dreams
Life is best when I live in a
Dream
