Come learn how to be a part of the tremendously successful, 3-day design conference on the power of social and environmental design, co-hosted by RISD & Brown. Past organizers will share experiences, discuss responsibilities, and answer questions about making A Better by Design 10 the bes...t installment yet!

@ Brown : Wed. Nov. 11 : 7 pm : Wilson, 305
(free pizza at both sessions)
There will be no added responsibilities this semester, but we want to meet and select the conference committee now, so next semester we can all start planning immediately.

A Boston-based company, One Earth Designs, has taken on the Himalayan energy issue and come up with HeatSource Textiles, a portable and renewable way of staying warm.

It was great to meet more designers who are trying to make the world better through design. This conference has inspired me to do a project in the Philippines that will help education, commun...ity, economy, and resources in a sustainable environment though design. Anyone interested? A Better World by Design 09
Better x Design, Brown and RISD's student organization for design and social change, will be sponsoring a speaker/panelist poster design series to raise funds for their Seed Fund for student research and collaboration.
Last year the Seed Fund promoted interdisciplinary projects including Rainwater for Humanity, a colla...borative project to create a sustainable water collection system for a community in rural India and the Brown Progress Initiative's design, engineering, and construction of energy-generating physical training machines.
Currently participating are: William Drenttel, Nathan Shedroff, Debbie Millman, Krzystof Lenk, Tom Wedell, Nancy Skolos, Lucy Hitchcock, Scott Stowell, Natacha Poggio, and Willem Van Lancker.
The archival 24" x 36" prints will be sold throughout the weekend in a numbered limited edition for $20 each.
