Growing up in a small town east of Phoenix, Arizona, singer/songwriter Robert Toner dreamed of big city stages and large, appreciative audiences. Though originally used as his alias for karaoke, the name “Sioux” seemed to stick with Toner, from which the band’s name, “A Boy Named Sioux” was born.
Officially released on July 20, 2007, “The Next Big Thing” received an almost overwhelming welcome at its Release Party hosted at “The Door” in Scottsdale, Arizona selling out of both CD’s and band T-Shirts. It was clear that “A Boy Named Sioux” was able to captivate and galvanize audiences with their country-rock blend. Toner’s own charisma and soulful vocal stylings fuse elements of the past with today’s more commercially acceptable listening format.
“A Boy Named Sioux” is a hard-working band filled with talent and determination. They are equally proficient on stage or in the recording studio. With new, original material, and some well-covered classics continuously being added to their set list, they keep a fresh and current perspective on the ever-changing face of county-rock music. “A Boy Named Sioux” currently plays throughout Arizona and is looking to bring their music and dynamic presence to a city near you.
