ALFA's Holiday Adoption Program is designed to provide gifts for the children of ALFA who are either infected or affected by HIV/AIDS. Anyone can participate in adopting an ALFA family with children. To sign up, contact Mandy Chilton at 828-322-1447 x226, or email ALFACMS@ALFAInfo.org by December 4th.

You decide how many children you would like to adopt. You will be matched up with a family, given a first name, shoes and clothing sizes, ages, and wants/needs. Wrapped gifts should then be dropped of at the ALFA office by December 18th.
ALFA is proud to offer a Volunteer Orientation for our friends in Watauga County. During this three hour training you will gain the knowledge needed to increase awareness of HIV transmission facts, while decreasing the pervasive stereotypes, and social stigma surrounding the epidemic.

Get the inside scoop on all the NEW exciting events coming up for ALFA, and our volunteers.

Please join us Monday, October 19th, 7:00pm to 9:00pm
at the Watauga County Public Library Meeting Room.
*** Please call 828-322-1447 ext. 231 to RSVP***

**Participants in the two-hour orientation will learn the basic facts of HIV/AIDS, numerous volunteer opportunities, discuss the psychosocial issues surrounding the illness, and highlight skills needed to present ALFA and HIV/AIDS issues to the public.

ALFA welcomes anyone interested in volunteering with the AIDS service organization. Volunteer tasks vary from transporting clients to medical appointments, working at fairs and festivals, presenting HIV/AIDS prevention information, to the public, serving on committees, or community outreach. Due to the confidential nature of the agency and clients, ALFA requires a preliminary screening of any potential volunteers.

ALFA has been at the forefront of the fight against HIV/AIDS for 22 years. ALFA is the leading AIDS service organization in Alexander, Alleghany, Ashe, Burke, Caldwell, Catawba, Lincoln, Watauga, and Wilkes counties. If you have any questions about the ALFA volunteer program, or want to register for the orientation, please contact Linda H. Sheehan at 322-1447 ext. 231 or at alfavol@charter.net or www.alfainfo.org.
ALFA and Unifour Christian Fellowship Church are planning quilting bees to complete our memorial quilt. Let us know if you could join us for a quilting bee at the church on a Tuesday night and what time works best for you. Are you a 5:30 to 7 p.m. kind of person or does the 7 p.m. to 8:30 time frame fit your schedule better? You don’t have to know how to quilt. We’ll teach you. You can be part of a meaningful community art project and meet new friends.
