AVHS Alumni The Alumni Website is starting an interactive gallery for Annie Antelope and eventually the cheerleaders. Does anyone remember who Annie Antelope was for any of the years with question marks. You can view page under construction below. Thanks

Annie Antelope, Antelope Valley's school mascot, was first seen in the 1959 yearbook. Since then, dozens of girls (and a few Andy Antelopes) have taken on the responsibility of becoming the symbol of AV Highschool's spirit. ...

AVHS Alumni The Gazebo was the senior gift to AV Highschool from the class of 1970. What was your classes Senior Gift and does it still exist?

AVHS Alumni AV's Student parking lot has around 400 to 500 spaces and has been around since at least the 1940s. How did you get to school and/or what did you drive to school?

Congrats to Coach Newcomb, well deserved. Chris, I agree, Brent Newcomb Stadium should have been the name of choice.

It was very nice to be on the field during the Dedication of the New Brent Newcomb Stadium at Mays Field. As I was speaking to some past AVHS ALUMNI FOOTBALL Players toname a few Mark. Lee, Marco, David, Jermiah, Tommy, along with Coach Newcomb and Fetts it just brought back fond memories of how fun AVHS was for so many years. I hope that as a resident of the Antelope Valley that those of us still here will witness that magic again at AVHS. GO LOPES!!! Class of 83

AVHS Alumni Driver's Ed was a long time course at AV until state budget problems (late 80s?) forced the discontinuation of the classes at AV and other high schools. Besides the class room and behind the wheel, AV also offered a simulator (pictured here) which gave you a sense of driving behind the wheel while looking out for roadside hazards. (from 1966 yearbook)

AVHS Alumni Alumni from the 1980s and earlier will remember the Annex and the long walks out to 3rd street. The World War II ? buildings hosted the first Antelope Valley College classes and ultimately served entire AVHS departments like English and Math. This is a 2009 picture of the location at 3rd St and Kettering. The class roo...ms were removed in 80s / early 90s and located on the main campus between the two gyms.

AV has about 1800 students. When Eastside High opened 4 years ago, they took 1/2 of the freshman class. Now AV is one of the smallest schools in the District.

Gene Wickham - I seem to remember going to McDonalds for lunch a number of times in my senior year (72-73). I don't think there were any special requirements except being a senior. From the comments it appears the campus was opened and closed a few times.
