Acadia National Park The park is trying to gather photographs taken before, during, and after the wave tragedy last week, to potentially be included in a presentation being given as a "wrap up." If anyone has a photo (or a few), especially one that shows the actual wave or people in the water, and would be willing to pass it along, could you email ian@friendsofacadia.org? You will, of course, be credited. Thanks everyone!

We were in Bar Harbor that day... our last day of vacation. We decided not to visit the park knowing it would be too dangerous. It amazes me how many people don't get it. When hiking, I saw so many people climbing difficult trails in flip flops.

Hiking in Acadia must be fantastic. I was only in the park for part of a day on a New England Foilage tour a few years ago. But what a day it was! A clear day allowed our bus to venture up Cadillac Mtn & the views were amazing. Felt like I was on top of the world! I'd love to return... wish is were closer to Kentucky

And as of one week ago, there were tons of slippery rocks, as well as waterfalls. Beautiful, even in the rain.

Tom Walsh... Read More’s Portsmouth-based development company Ocean Properties, submitted a proposal to the Bar Harbor Planning Department for a 120-room hotel along the waterfront in early March of thiis year. It will include a 125 seat Cafe stlye Restaurant as well as other commercial space. Ocean Properties bought up several properties including homes in the Rodick and West streets area of downtown Bar Harbor. From what I know the hotel will operate from early spring through late fall and during peak season will employ 80 people.
He is a genius in real estate development and Portland seriously screwed up by not having Ocean Properties manage the redevelopment of the Maine State Pier. Olympia reneged and now they are way behind the eight ball but that is par for the course for Portland with their messing up the opportunity for a Convention center Joe Boulos wanted to build, and the Libra Foundation's offer to build a new Civic Center.
Ok I'm done ranting...where did that come from! LOL

I'll be at home, but will continue to pick up the trash along side the country roads. I despise it when people through their garbage on the road... no use, find the nearest garbage can!!! Keep our land clean!

I watched a guy at the local grocery store yell about a guy who didn't stop at a stop sign so he could cross the parking lot to his car, then throw a bunch of garbage on the ground as he got in his car. I immediately went over to pick up the garbage while he rolled his window down and chastised him for his "me" attitude. Didn't effect him much, but at least I felt better and he & his wife were embarrassed!
