Accenture sponsor the 15th Year Anniversary event of The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP).
Accenture was proud to sponsor The Washington Ireland Program for Service and Leadership (WIP) as it celebrated its 15th Year Anniversary on Thursday 8th October at the K Club, Kildare and later with a reception at Dublin Castle in the company of the President of Ireland, Mary McAleese and US Ambassador to Ireland Dan Rooney. The reception at Dublin Castle, attended by over 300 guests – including 16 TDs, ministers from the NI Assembly, a range of distinguished Civil Servants and leading business figures. Both Mark Ryan, Country Managing Director for Accenture in Ireland and Accenture employee Shane Carmichael, joined the President, Ambassador Rooney and WIP Chairman, Kevin Sullivan on the stage in St Patricks Hall from where they each addressed the attendant audience.

Accenture were proud sponsors of The Insurance Institute’s 3rd Annual Industry Leaders’ Summit 2009. The Insurance Institute’s Industry Leaders’ Summit offers business people a unique opportunity to stay in touch with developments within the economy, the business world and the profession. This year’s summit “Aiding the Recovery: Practical Strategies to Insure Success” addressed all the key areas which impact Irish Insurance businesses on a Domestic, European and Global context. Accenture Ireland Hosts “Cloud Computing – Dispelling the Myths” Business Breakfast Briefing
A conference hosted by Accenture, in association with ComputerScope magazine, this week heard that cloud computing is likely to have a growing impact on enterprise IT and business activities in many large organisations in Ireland. Paul Daugherty, Accenture's chief technology architect, urged CIOs and other business leaders to "look beyond the hype to see what opportunities and challenges lie in the cloud—and how this approach can be used to further an organisation's IT strategy to achieve real business benefits." The event was attended by CIOs from a cross-section of Irish business who heard presentations by Accenture, Google, Microsoft , Amazon and Salesforce. Accenture employees pledged 40,000 tons of carbon reduction. What’s your pledge?
More than 32,100 employees recently took the Accenture Eco Challenge, collectively pledging to reduce their carbon footprint by more than 40,000 tons—the same amount of carbon emitted by 28,000 flights between London and New York! Do you want to rise to the challenge? Take the Accenture eco challenge! Take a short quiz to determine your carbon score and then pledge to lower your score by following the recommended behavioral changes provided on the site.

Accenture and Junior Achievement
In 2008/2009 47 Accenture Ireland employees taught Junior Achievement programmes or volunteered at the Challenge Science or European Union Day events. Junior Achievement is part of a worldwide organisation reaching out to 7 million young people each year. It was established in Ireland in 1995 and since then has built up a strong demand from schools throughout the country and created successful partnerships with 150 leading organisations. All Junior Achievement programmes are taught by business volunteers recruited from supporting organisations and fully trained before they commence their programme.
