Company Overview:
The African Writers' Evening is the first regular evening held for African Writers outside of Africa at the UK's celebrated Poetry Cafe. Started by Ghanaian writer Nii Ayikwei Parkes in consultation with the Directors of the Poetry Society, its solid reputation is based on its ability to consistently identify and feature talented emerging writers. Mission:
To showcase and develop African writing in all its forms, free of the constraints, stereotypes and expectations of non-African readers. By African writing, we always mean writing by Africans, with African sensibilities - not necessarily writing about two goats by a mud hut!
