Saw this in Minneapolis. As we were leaving my husband asked me how we could ever explain to anyone what we had just experienced. The answer is that we can't and you simply need to experience it yourself. Phenomenal.

Alash Ensemble Alash conducted an exciting, jam-packed tour of the U.S. from July 17 to August 16, 2009. Traveling up and down the eastern seaboard from Vermont to Virginia, they appeared at the Grassroots Festival, the Lowell Folk Festival, and the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, as well as numerous venues large and small along ...the way. They continued their popular tradition of collaborating with friends from the Sun Ra Arkestra at the Rotunda in Philadelphia, and they conducted an intensive 3-day workshop at the New England Conservatory. They wrapped up the busy tour with a relaxed, informal concert at the Chapel of Sacred Mirrors' new Art Sanctuary in Wappingers Falls, NY, where they were photographed by Hildegard M. Grob.

Here’s one musical group from the Grassroots Festival that I definitely could not hear from my front porch. I wish I could have.
