Graceann Deters This movie echoes my own story--I was a missionary daughter in Brazil during the 1940's and 50's. I was sexually abused by my father's ministry partner, and experienced great emotional harm at the hands of the church there. There is hope for survivors, check out my story at Divinebetrayal.comhttp://divinebetrayal.com/?p=535

I didn't specifically write my story for Mk's and Pk's but they are identifying with my story Divine Betrayal, and understand what it is all about. Blessing, Graceann

Dale Ingraham We had a viewing of this film in our church a few weeks ago. What a powerful and moving film. Every Christian needs to this documentary. I pray that God will use this film to make a difference. As a victim of sexual abuse it is amazing that stories of abuse are so similar that it seems like every story has the same elements, just different names. It seems like the norm is to blame victims and excuse offenders. Victims are told to forgive and forget and offenders are given a slap on the wrist and told never do it again. Proverbs 17:15 says "Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent--the Lord detests them both." It seems that because Christians don't want to admit that we have to deal with this sin it is easier t make excuses or minimize than to deal with the sin issue. Very true. Thanks, Faith, for sharing how the film echoes your own story.

I was at a book-signing event in Seattle a few months ago when I met Marilyn Christman, who asked me to look into the sexual abuse of Protestant missionary kids (MKs).

Hundreds of miles from their parents and without any means of communication, missionary children suffer abuse at the hands of a school's all-missionary staff.

Both of our kids' parents attended Mamou (Judy Tschetter Darr and me). Here's a quote from one of our kids' spouses, (with the names edited):
"I will say, we have yet to see the film. Honestly, [] is hesitant and I think still very angry over what happened and somewhat fearful of watching it. My point is that [](who doesn... Read More’t know I am writing this...) has A LOT of pain due to what happened in Africa. It has directly affected [] and []'s belief in the church and God. [] continues to struggle with this. Especially now that we have children. As for them, we have decided that they will know what happened (when at the right age) to their family in Africa. However, hopefully, they will have been smothered with so much positive love from their parents, church members and pastor that it will be a story of what they are capable of. Leaving them with a sense of empowerment of what their family (AND FATHER!!!) overcame and a proud sense of who they are!"

All the positive press in recent weeks has been wonderful. When I read a review of the film and realize that perfect strangers not only "get it" but care enough to tell the whole wide world, I am really touched.

All God's Children Very inspiring screening at Curtis Baptist Church in Campbell, NY today. Thank you, Shary Kroeker Hauber for organizing, Pastor Dale Ingraham and wife Faith for hosting, Tim Hauber for projecting the film, Dianne Couts for speaking, Bud Couts for handling the merch table and everyone for attending - especially on such a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

All God's Children Christa Brown's outstanding book "This Little Light" is finally available. I recently got to read the book and highly recommend it. Christa tells of her experience as a survivor of sexual abuse by her Southern Baptist pastor, her journey to find justice and healing and her advocacy for the sake of other survivors and to protect children from having to experience the same.

Dianne Darr Couts It's been exciting to make our travel plans for attending the AGC screening this coming Saturday. It will be great to see Shary again. She attended Mamou from 1949 till 1960. Our parents were GMU colleagues in Mali.

India Thank you for creating this! Maybe some of the impact from this film will help the survivors of ICA be able to stand up and speak out!

My brothers and I are participants in AGC. It is good to know that what we have done is helping others in their journeys. I suggest that you check out the website MKsafetynet. It gives encouragement and suggestions for survivors of missionary boarding schools.
