This year, ALLY Week has been awesome. We have read many stories from school wide events to students tabling at lunch, from GSAs wearing all yellow to organizations honoring local allies. Now we want to continue the outreach online over the next day and a half with our ALLY WEEK Tweeting Contest. ...

Richard Byrne I feel guilty for not getting things together to run an Ally Week drive in my school in time. Well, at least I signed the pledge. That's /some/ progress, right?

I go to school in Orange County, California. This is our first year doing Ally Week and so far it has been going great. We hung up a bunch of posters and have a table set up at lunch for kids to sign pledges and get information. The reactions have been amazing. We were really scared of what the kids at our school would... do and say, but besides a few nagative and hurtful comments, most have been overwhelmingly supportive and excited. We have close to 100 signatures, which is not a lot compared to the size of our school, but still more than we expected. Everyone has been talking about it to, and there have been a lot of conversations, both inside and outside of class. I really feel like people have started thinking about their actions more and I feel like this week will have a real impact on my school! Thanks for starting this event!Read More

My school's GSA started a chain text message about ally
week that states: "I believe schools should be safe supportive places for
all students regardless of sexual orientation gender identity or expression.
www.allyweek.org. FWD it!" The next day after the initial sending, some of
the original senders of the message were g...etting it sent back to them.
Personally, right after sending the initial message, I got several replies that
were in strong support of this and that said they forwarded it to at least 20
people. More so, many of the other students in my school's GSA sent it to
students in other districts. Some even went to other states and colleges. We
plan on doing this again next year, and for other things as well probably, such
as the days of action. Just thought I would share.Read More
