Alzheimer's Arkansas Programs and Services In 1983 President Ronald Reagan first declared November to National Alzheimer's Disease Awareness Month. Ten years later the President would announce tha the had ben diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. His wife, Nancy, became one of us - a family caregiver. National Family Caregiver Month, is a nationally recognized... time to focus attention on the more than 50 million family caregivers who provide 80% of our nation's long term care services. It is a time to thank, support, educate, and advocate for family caregivers.

Alzheimer's Arkansas Programs and Services The Task Force on the Effect of Alzheimer's Disease in Arkansas, established by the Arkansas Legislature, held its first meeting on August 26. The purpose of the task force is to determine the needs of Arkansas families affected by Alzheimer's disease and to develop strategies for meeting those needs. Recommendations... will be presented to the legislature in 2010.
Phyllis Watkins, Executive Director of Alzheimer's Arkansas, was appointed by Governor Beebe to serve on the task force. Please feel free to contact Phyllis at the Alzheimer's Arkansas office with your concerns and ideas.
